Kenlee Zuraff is a bright, beautiful 7-year-old girl from Florida who lives with cystic fibrosis. In March 2024, armed DCF agents and police stormed her home and removed her from her mother, Joy, in what has been widely described as a case of medical kidnapping. The bodycam footage went viral, exposing serious problems in how the state treats families.For nearly two years, Kenlee remained in foster care while Joy faced an uphill battle. Before Magic Feathers became involved, Joy was staring down the very real threat of Termination of Parental Rights. The system seemed determined to permanently sever their bond.
That changed when we stepped in.
At Magic Feathers Corp., we don’t just talk about justice — we deliver results. In one intense, focused push, most of our critical work on the #FreeKenlee movement was accomplished in just 9 days. We mobilized quickly, collaborated with local supporters, brought in a cavalry of supporters and advocates to the courthouse, and demanded accountability. The impact was immediate and powerful.
What We Accomplished in Record Time
1. Built FreeKenlee.com
We created and launched the official website to give Joy and Kenlee a strong, independent platform to share their story, post updates, and rally support.
2. Conducted Multiple Expert Interviews
I sat down with subject matter experts — doctors, attorneys, and child welfare advocates — to directly counter the false narratives being spread by state and DCF actors. These interviews cut through the misinformation and put the truth on record.
3. Went National on OANN
I appeared on One America News to represent the family’s plight on a national stage, bringing widespread attention to the injustice.
4. Launched Kenlee’s Law
I started the Change.org petition for Kenlee’s Law, a comprehensive reform package designed to hold DCF workers and medical professionals accountable, mandate body cameras, end qualified immunity for false statements, and give families a real fighting chance.
Bringing the Cavalry to the Courthouse
We didn’t stop at media and legislation. We organized and brought a powerful show of support directly to the courthouse. Supporters, advocates, and concerned citizens showed up in force to demand accountability and visibility for this family. This visible pressure made a difference.The Results Speak for Themselves
Because of this rapid, coordinated effort, Kenlee was moved significantly closer to home. Even more importantly, a clear path toward reunification with her mother Joy has now opened. This is a major victory. Before we got involved, Joy was facing Termination of Parental Rights proceedings that could have permanently taken her daughter away. Today, thanks to focused advocacy and public pressure, the trajectory has shifted in a positive direction. Kenlee is closer to her family, and the door to coming home is no longer slammed shut.These wins prove what is possible when truth-tellers act with speed, courage, and strategy.
